Is sea kayaking safe?
Yes, it is! When you paddle with us, our professional guides will look after the safety of you and your group and will do their best to minimise any potential risks. Our guides are trained in sea conditions, are able to monitor changing weather conditions and the well-being of the group, and are familiar with the area being paddled. If conditions dictate, we can also change the route, location or time so that the event can be organised safely.
Can I paddle alone?
As conditions can change rapidly here in the outer archipelago, it is extremely important for safety that you only go kayaking alone if you have a good command of the kayak handling, steering, navigation and rescue techniques required by the conditions. We offer subsidised self-supported trip packages for experienced paddlers and are happy to arrange a rescue course or private tuition if you need a refresher. Also check out our range of basic sea kayaking courses.
How do I protect myself from ticks?
Ticks are quite common in the archipelago, although the situation can vary greatly from island to island. Some ticks may carry the TBE virus or the borrelia bacterium, although these viruses are not very common. We recommend that you make regular tick checks in the morning and in the evening, and especially after walking in the heath. The best way to get the tick off your skin is with tick tweezers. If you remove an attached tick from your skin as soon as possible, the risk of contracting the disease is very low.
Can I invite you to teach or lead a field trip elsewhere?
Yes you can. We will be happy to organise a kayaking trip or course according to your wishes. We cooperate a lot with different associations, municipalities and event organisers. Contact us and we will plan an event that suits you.
