EPP 2 Skill test, Korppoo
Art display - Paddler 2 Kayak (EPP2)
The paddlers 2 level skills demonstration tests basic kayak handling skills. A paddler who has passed the skills test will have a good command of the basic skills of paddling a kayak and will be able to participate in advanced courses and trips. Paddle 2 level is equivalent to the international EPP2 level and is valid in all member states (European Paddle Pass). Paddle 2 skills are also a prerequisite for the paddle instructor course.
Things to test on the screen (fluency required):
- Forward and backward paddling and stopping
- Steering the kayak in the desired direction
- Canoeing on the side
- Tilting the kayak in motion
- curved line
- Under-support and fall prevention
- paddled reindeer
- Self-rescue and swarm rescue
- Assisted kayak spin, the so-called "bow swim"
- Basic navigation
- Equipment handling and transport.

In addition, for those who pass the art demonstration, registration and a Paddle 2 card from the Finnish Canoeing and Rowing Federation for 15 € + VAT.
The recipient of the screen: Gabriel Sydänvirta. Paddling instructor for the Finnish Sea Paddling Association and the Finnish Paddling and Rowing Federation.
Take with you: For the skills test, you will need a kayak, paddle, buoyancy aids, opening cover and paddling equipment suitable for the conditions. If you wish, you can also rent a sea kayak from us for 30€ (kayak rental includes a kayak with fins, paddling vest and opening cover).
More information on art displays and the EPP system
The Finnish Canoeing and Rowing Federation maintains a training system that includes personal skill tests - Paddle 2 and Paddle 3 The skill tests and the resulting skill cards are part of the European EPP (Euro Paddle Pass) system. The EPP Member States' skills cards are comparable with each other. So you can prove your paddling skills in Europe with this card.
The current members, in addition to Finland, are France, Ireland, England, Slovenia, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Italy and Switzerland.
